IMPORTANT - Replacement of windows

The wooden window frames and patio doors that were installed when the blocks in the Tolsey Quay complex were originally constructed in the 1980s are, in many of the properties, coming to the end of their useful life.

As you may know, the windows were re-painted in 2016 and minor repairs were carried out by the contractor. However, some of the windows were in such a poor state that they were impossible to paint and required replacement.

Windows in a poor state will not be painted in future years.

It is important to remember that the original wooden windows are single glazed and not efficient for keeping the heat in - investing in modern uPVC or aluminium replacements will save money in the long run and maintain/increase the value of the property.

As we are in a conservation area all replacement windows MUST be like-for-like with the original windows regarding design, style and colour to ensure a close match with the rest of the windows in the complex. Other designs, styles and colours of replacement windows are NOT permissible; if such windows are fitted by a property owner then they may be required, at their own cost, to remove the windows and to fit acceptable ones.

The Board of Directors of TQM Ltd can make no recommendation of whom you should contract to make and fit new windows but L&L Installations in Red Lane (just across the lights at the end of Back Of Avon) have fitted many windows in the complex and have a very satisfactory rating.

They are so confident of the quality of their work that they pay a complimentary visit every year for 10 years to check/adjust the windows.
